羅蘭巴特曾説：「面對鏡頭，我同時是：我自以為的我，我希望別人以為的我，攝影師眼中的我，還有他藉以展現技藝的我。」變裝者同時介於裝扮到抹除之間，在鏡頭前透過有意識的參與行為，展現出不同的人格面具，並透過他人的眼光與自我的反應不斷的認同與破壞自我與他者之間那條模糊的界線。

Roland Barthes once said, “In front of the lens, I am at the same time: the one I think I am, the one I want others to think I am, the one the photographer thinks I am, and the one he makes use of to exhibit his art.” Transvestites are in between costume and elimination of self. They show their different personalities through posing in front of the cameras consciously, and constantly recognizing and challenging the vague boundary between themselves and others through others’ eyes and self reactions.
